Be well connected

A well-developed network of autobahns links business centers in Rheinland-Pfalz.

Bound for a quick meeting in London, a visit to the Hannover Fair, for a weekend in Paris – no problem at all if Rheinland-Pfalz is your base of operations. Most European capitals are no more than two hours away by air. A dense network of transportation arteries puts people and products where they are needed. A highly efficient transportation infrastructure links the Rhein-Main, Rhein-Neckar and Rhein-Ruhr metropolitan markets. It makes France, Luxembourg and Belgium, across the border neighbors, worth a quick visit.

The Frankfurt airport, one of the world’s major air hubs, is reached in minutes by car or rail from Mainz, the capital of Rheinland-Pfalz. The airports Frankfurt-Hahn and Zweibruecken, both located within the state, are served by scheduled international airline services around the clock. Business, cargo and tourist traffic benefit from their 24-hour operations.

The container terminal located in the customs and port area of Mainz is an important logistics center.

If speed is not essential or payloads are heavy, use waterways as an attractive alternative. The Rhein is Europe’s busiest river and one of the world’s most important shipping lanes. Together with its feeders the Rhein accounts for about 70 percent of the cargo on German rivers and canals. Altogether 605 kilometers of waterways facilitate shipping on the Rhein, Mosel, Saar and Lahn rivers and in 14 highly-efficient inland ports.

The rail network features not only top-notch commuter services, but also reliable national and international ICE and IC super-fast train service, expediting products and people to their destinations. These Rheinland-Pfalz facilities augment an excellent road network. All these carriers are interconnected so that all routings are short and fast.
